Spotlight of the Week: Tasha Booker – Championing Early Childhood Education in Central Ohio

Tasha Booker is a powerhouse in nonprofit leadership, bringing over two decades of experience in strategic communications, advocacy, and community impact. As the CEO of Action for Children, she is dedicated to strengthening early care, education, and family support systems across central Ohio. Her visionary leadership ensures that families, educators, and children receive accessible, high-quality services that promote both well-being and economic vitality.

Before joining Action for Children, Tasha served as Senior Vice President of External Engagement at City Year Inc., where she spearheaded a $24 million communications initiative, amplifying the organization’s brand across 29 U.S. cities. Her strategic efforts secured major media placements, significantly enhancing engagement and visibility.

Her tenure as Executive Director of City Year Columbus was marked by a transformative impact, turning an underperforming site into a nationally recognized model of excellence. Under her leadership, the organization saw a 62% increase in private revenue and a staggering 280% growth in district investments.

Throughout her career, she has cultivated high-performing, inclusive teams, fostering environments where diverse talents can thrive. Her commitment to equity extends beyond leadership, she has built partnerships with organizations such as United Way of Central Ohio and I Know I Can, creating programs that expand access to education and essential resources for underserved communities.

At the helm of Action for Children, Tasha continues to amplify the organization’s influence by strengthening partnerships with government agencies, businesses, and the community. Her strategic approach ensures that Action for Children remains a trusted resource for early childhood development, education, and family support.

Tasha holds a Master’s in Education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and a certificate in Designing for Social Systems from Stanford University. She is deeply engaged in the Columbus community, supporting initiatives focused on affordable housing, education, and metro parks.

Outside of her professional work, Tasha enjoys traveling internationally and cherishing moments with her family, her husband Troy Fowler, sons Logan and T.J., and their beloved dogs, Skittles (a 5lb Poodle) and Sir Cooper (an Airedale Terrier). Through her work, Tasha Booker continues to shape a brighter, more inclusive future for generations to come.
