Streetsboro Schools Shut Down After Report of Armed Man

All schools in the Streetsboro City School District were closed on Monday after a City of Streetsboro employee reported seeing a man dressed in black and possibly carrying a long gun.
According to Police Chief Tricia Wain, the man was spotted around 6 a.m. near SR 303 and Kirby Lane. Officers responded within minutes, but despite a thorough search, no suspect was located.
As a precaution, the district’s bus garage on Annalane Drive was placed under lockdown, and the decision was made to cancel school for the day.
The Streetsboro Police Department deployed “all available technology,” including drones, to survey the area. Crews searched wooded areas and the rooftops of nearby buildings but found no threats. The search concluded just before 9 a.m.
Every child has the right to be protected from all forms of violence and to grow up in a safe environment. Streetsboro’s swift decision to close schools reflects the responsibility of authorities to prioritize children’s safety and well-being, even when a threat is uncertain.
