The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is emphasizing the importance of back-to-school vaccinations for students. Vaccinations help build immunity against preventable diseases. Specific vaccine requirements are mandated for students entering Kindergarten, 7th grade, and 12th grade. The department hosts the Shots 4 Tots n Teens clinic, which accepts both walk-ins and appointments for the following immunizations:
- Diphtheria
- Tetanus
- Pertussis (whooping cough)
- Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR)
- Polio
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B
- Meningococcal (7th and 12th grades)
Health Commissioner Karim Baroudi emphasized the importance of back-to-school vaccinations in protecting against infectious diseases and urged parents to review their child’s immunization records and school requirements. To receive vaccinations at TLCHD, parents need to bring the child’s shot record, insurance card (if applicable), and a parent’s ID. TLCHD accepts all insurance plans and charges $21.25 per shot for those without insurance, but no child will be turned away due to inability to pay.
