Maple Heights Shooting Leaves Shaker Heights Student Dead, Two Injured

A community is in mourning after tragedy struck over the weekend. According to Maple Heights Police, a Shaker Heights High School student was killed in a shooting that also left two other boys injured late Saturday night.
Police said officers responded around 10 p.m. to the 5200 block of Thomas Street following reports of gunfire and wounded individuals. Two boys were found at the scene with gunshot injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
During their investigation, officers discovered a third person, identified as Shaker Heights High School senior Jayden Bonner, on Cato Street. He succumbed to his injuries there, despite efforts to save him.
On Monday, Shaker Heights Schools reached out to families with a letter expressing grief over Bonner’s death and offering support to students.
This tragedy is a painful reminder that every child has the right to life, survival, and development, a right that must be protected in every community.
