Defiance County Teen Detained After Hoax Bomb Threat at Local School

A 16-year-old was arrested in Defiance County on Thursday after allegedly making a bomb threat directed at a school in the Hicksville school district. According to the Hicksville Police Department, the student reportedly made a statement about having a bomb, prompting school officials to contact authorities shortly after 3 p.m.
At the time of the incident, the school day had already ended, and most students had left the building. Those who remained, including staff, were quickly evacuated as law enforcement responded. A K-9 unit from the Defiance Police Department assisted in conducting a thorough search of the school. No explosives were found, and police ultimately gave the “all clear.”
The suspect was taken into custody and booked into a juvenile detention center. While the police did not specify which school was involved, they confirmed that normal activities resumed once the building was deemed safe. The investigation remains ongoing.
