An unsettling incident at Summit Station Intermediate School in Licking Heights, Ohio, prompted an emergency medical response and sparked widespread concern.

A student reportedly brought a suspicious pipe-like device to school, initially feared to be drug paraphernalia. The object was discovered by a school resource officer, triggering an investigation and medical intervention.

Three students were hospitalized, mainly for headaches, after coming into contact with the device. Fortunately, all are expected to make a full recovery.

After thorough testing, no narcotics were found on the object, confirmed Col. Chris Barbuto of the Licking County Sheriff’s Office.

Confusion briefly escalated when EMS scanners misclassified the event as a “Mass Casualty Incident.” However, the school district swiftly corrected the misinformation, assuring parents in an official letter that no mass casualties occurred.
