Following the December deadly crash that killed a 4-year-old girl in Ashtabula County, changes are being made the intersection of Sexton Road and Clay Street.
“This has been a problem for over 20 years in our county,” Ashtabula County Commissioner Casey Kozslowski said, “It was most definitely time for us to take another look at seek modifications at the intersection”
Ashtabula County will be adding a four-way stop to the area, which was previously a two-way stop. According to Kozslowski, there have been at least 11 crashes at this specific intersection, showing a need for change. Previously, the county had added flashing stop signs and cleared vegetation on Sexton Road, in addition to signage alerting drivers of the two-way stop. Despite that, more was needed.
