COLUMBUS, Ohio- A city playground in north Columbus was mistakenly demolished earlier this week by a contractor who was supposed to remove a playground at a nearby elementary school. The contractor, hired by Columbus City Schools, was working on replacing a preschool playground at the Weinland Park Elementary School property but “inadvertently demolished” the city park’s playground instead.
The contractor has taken full responsibility for the mistake and is replacing the demolished playground with a brand-new one at their own cost. The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department stated that they will oversee the project to ensure it progresses as planned and to stay informed about its progress.
