CCS Board Member Rates Superintendent as ‘Failing’ Across the Board

< 1 min read

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Columbus City Schools superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman, who has been in her role for about a year, is viewed positively by most school board members, who believe she is moving the district in the right direction. Her recent evaluation scored her 2.81 out of 4, highlighting improvements in graduation rates and early literacy. However, one board member gave her “zeros” across various evaluation categories, prompting criticism from teachers union president John Coneglio, who argues that such ratings undermine board accountability. NAACP president Nana Watson expressed concern over board conflicts potentially hindering progress and emphasized the need for unity to support Dr. Chapman’s leadership. While Dr. Chapman faces challenges, including transportation and student achievement, she remains focused on providing essential resources for students.
