WAYNE, Ohio-Lori Colon is spearheading the creation of the Wayne County STEAM Playlab at LincWay, inspired by her own experiences visiting children’s museums. The Playlab aims to provide interactive, educational experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) to engage children and prepare them for future careers. Planned features include a storybook forest, a rocket ship for space exploration, and a tiny town for learning about agriculture and economics. Colon and LincWay’s director, Delight Howels, are collaborating to fulfill this vision, addressing the need for local family activities. They are raising $7 million for the project and are halfway to their goal, with the opening date dependent on further fundraising. Colon is excited about establishing a long-term resource for future generations.
