Loveland City Schools have New Bus Drivers for this School Year

LOVELAND, Ohio-The Loveland City School District has made efforts to address its bus driver shortage by recruiting and training four new drivers this summer. To attract candidates, the district used billboards and Facebook ads. Despite the nationwide 15% decline in bus drivers over the past five years, the district’s new recruits are expected to improve the efficiency of morning and afternoon routes. Superintendent Mike Broadwater acknowledged the challenges of training new drivers but emphasized that the district covers training costs and highlights the job’s benefits. Last year, the shortage caused significant issues, including the need for drivers to cover multiple routes if others were absent, disrupting schedules. This year, with the new drivers, the district is better prepared, ensuring that student transportation runs smoothly and safely.
