The police initially sought him after receiving a tip that he was with a missing minor at a hotel. When authorities attempted to intervene, Brown fled in a stolen truck. During the investigation, a second minor was also found and taken into custody. The truck was reported stolen, and Brown led police on a chase across county lines before crashing into a train in Miamisburg. Brown then refused to leave the vehicle, leading to a prolonged standoff on a bridge.
