RIVERSIDE, Ohio-A family displaced by a tornado faced a frightening situation when their 6-year-old kindergartener, Sophia, mistakenly boarded the wrong bus at Stevenson Elementary in Riverside on Monday. The child’s mother, Kaylyn Boldman, was alarmed when she learned of the situation and frantically tried to locate her daughter.
Boldman’s stepmother eventually intercepted the bus to ensure Sophia’s safety. Despite feeling angry and scared during the ordeal, Boldman acknowledged the efforts made by Mad River Schools to assist her family, especially given their recent displacement due to tornado damage. The district clarified that Sophia, who had been riding the bus regularly, was no longer enrolled due to changes in living arrangements, but arrangements were made to ensure her safety and she was never left unsupervised. The district emphasized its commitment to student safety and appreciated the prompt actions taken by all involved parties.
