An alleged mattress fire in a single-family home on First Avenue in West Price Hill early Sunday morning displaced 12 residents including four children and a dog. The fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, was reported at 7:32 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke emanating from the third floor of the two-story frame house. An aggressive interior attack was launched and the fire was extinguished within 15 minutes.
