LEWISTOWN, Ohio-Safety Town at Indian Lake Elementary School has launched, aimed at teaching young children essential safety skills. The program began with a lesson on Stranger Danger, led by Russells Point Police Chief Joe Freyhof, where students learned not to engage with strangers, accept gifts, or go anywhere with them. For homework, they are tasked with creating a Secret Family Password to share with a trusted adult for emergencies. Over the next two weeks, all current kindergarten students will participate in the full Safety Town curriculum, covering topics such as pedestrian safety, bus safety, playground safety, good and bad touch, fire safety, and water safety, culminating in a graduation ceremony.
