In a packed Xenia School Board race, seven people are in the running for three seats on the five-person body. Many of the candidates interviewed said improving student academic achievement were among their top priorities. Xenia schools have found themselves at the center of culture war issues surrounding school districts over the last several years. Most recently, teachers in the district went viral for comments they made on their personal social media pages over the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The Xenia School Board ultimately accepted a recommendation from the superintendent to discipline the teachers, though they kept their jobs.
