< 1 min read

JOHNSTOWN, Ohio-Cornell School, a historic one-room schoolhouse in Johnstown, Ohio, has been honored by being added to the National School Registry by the Country School Association of America. It is the first school in Ohio to receive this recognition. Originally located near St. Alban’s Township, Cornell School operated until 1923, serving as a farm storage building thereafter. In 1987, it was purchased by a nonprofit and relocated to 453 S. Main St. in Johnstown. Today, Cornell School offers educational field trips where students can experience a day in a historic one-room schoolhouse setting. The school qualifies for the National School Registry due to its age, preservation efforts, and commitment to maintaining its historical integrity.
