CINCINNATI, Ohio-On Tuesday night, the Hamilton County Commission on Women & Girls welcomed a new group of diverse women and girls to continue its mission. Established by Hamilton County Commissioner Denise Driehaus in 2016, the commission addresses community concerns voiced by women and girls about feeling unheard. The group identifies community needs from August to May through interviews and then develops policies for local and state governments. Achievements include advocating for free period products in Ohio schools. The commission is also exploring initiatives like a “girls court” that focuses on wellness treatments rather than juvenile detention.
