COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio is launching the Summer EBT/SUN Bucks program to address hunger among eligible families during the summer months. Led by Brigette Hires, the state’s Office of Nutrition emphasizes the program’s importance for children facing food insecurity and learning setbacks.
Eligible families will receive a one-time benefit of $120 per child to purchase groceries, ensuring adequate nutrition. The program targets children aged 6 to 18 from families enrolled in SNAP, Medicaid, or Ohio Works First, certified by schools for free or reduced-price meals. Approximately 837,000 children statewide are expected to benefit, with funds deposited onto existing Ohio Direction Cards or distributed via mail for purchasing essential food items.
