Lawmakers in Ohio are considering new legislation that could redefine how child neglect is interpreted, particularly when it comes to allowing children to play or spend time outdoors without direct supervision. The proposed bill, known as the “Let Children Grow Act,” is being championed by Theresa Gavarone. It seeks to make clear that permitting children to engage in independent activities outside the home should not automatically be classified as abuse or neglect.
