City of Toledo Officials Share Plan to Curb Violence by Starting in Schools

TOLEDO, Ohio-In Toledo, after a record 70 homicides in 2021, the city has seen a decline in violence but continues to grapple with its effects. To address this, Toledo has implemented several initiatives:

Malcolm Cunningham leads the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (MONSE) to tackle gun violence, with a focus on neighborhoods and schools.
Josh Davies oversees the “Save Our Community” program, which integrates into Toledo Public Schools and Maritime Academy, using a public health approach to build resilience and relationships among students.
