CAMBRIDGE, Ohio-The Cambridge City School District has approved a new oil and gas lease agreement with EAP Ohio LLC, extending the district’s exploration of oil and gas potential. This five-year lease, starting August 15 and ending in 2029, covers an additional 4.8 acres behind the district’s existing 11-acre tract on Wills Creek Valley Drive. The district previously approved a similar lease for 182 acres in February 2024. The process includes verifying mineral rights ownership through a title search. If the district owns these rights, it will receive a one-time payment and potentially earn royalties from any oil or gas extracted. The lease is a non-surface agreement, meaning no production facilities will be built on the property.
