Sofia Avram was used to playing alone, competing her freshman and sophomore years as a singles player for Maumee Valley Country Day School. However, a fractured ankle from stepping on a ball before her junior season threatened to end it all. Head coach Epifani Jones said despite the injury, Avram never left the court, a discipline much like her older sister, Stefi, who was a district qualifier in her time on the Hawks’ tennis team.
