MEDINA, Ohio-The Highland Local School District has received a 5-star rating on the Ohio School Report Card for 2024, marking the highest possible score. Superintendent Catherine Aukerman expressed pride in this achievement, noting that while report cards are not the sole measure of success, they provide valuable data for improving student outcomes. The report evaluates performance in six areas: Achievement, Progress, Early Literacy, Gap Closing, Graduation, and College/Career Readiness. Highland earned 5 stars in five areas but received 4 stars in Progress, which assesses year-over-year student growth. Specifically, the district did not meet growth expectations in subjects such as high school algebra and eighth-grade English/language arts, indicating areas for improvement. Aukerman credited the district’s success to the dedication of students, staff, and parents.
