April 17th, 2024-CINCINNATI, Ohio-Cincinnati Children’s Hospital runs the Canine Comfort Program, pairing therapy dogs with social workers and child life specialists to support young patients and their families during hospital stays. The dogs visit patients, offering companionship and assistance in understanding medical procedures.
The program helps children feel more comfortable and allows them to engage in activities like practicing medical procedures on the dogs. Fundraising efforts are ongoing to support the program’s expenses, including grooming and veterinary bills.
