< 1 min read

CINCINNATI, Ohio-One year after 9-year-old Da’Myiah Barton-Pickens was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting in Silverton, her family continues to seek justice. Despite some progress in court proceedings, including one guilty plea and upcoming hearings for two other defendants, the family finds the pace of the justice system emotionally challenging. They gathered for a march in her honor, wearing custom pink t-shirts labeled “Forever 9,” expressing frustration over the slow process but vowing to attend every court date. Da’Myiah’s mother and other family members emphasized their commitment to achieving justice and using her story to advocate against community violence, aiming for unity and meaningful change.
