CLEVELAND, Ohio-A Cleveland couple, Deondre Hairston and Diamond Caldwell, pleaded guilty in connection with the death of their 27-day-old baby boy, who died at MetroHealth Medical Center on July 4, 2023. Caldwell pleaded guilty to endangering children and obstructing justice, while Hairston pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
They are scheduled to be sentenced on June 10. Hairston’s cousin, Michael Berry, previously pleaded guilty to obstructing justice and received a two-year probation sentence. The infant had marks on his neck, bruising, a black eye, and abrasions, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s office.
