Ohio schools sound alarm as lawmakers push to override governor’s property tax reform vetoes

Local school districts are voicing concerns about their future funding as the Ohio legislature sputters toward its goal of overriding several of Gov. Mike DeWine’s line-item vetoes on property tax reforms. Last week, members of the Ohio House voted to overturn one of several of DeWine’s vetoes. If the Senate follows suit as expected, state law will eliminate the option of replacement tax levies for all taxing bodies and certain levies, such as emergency levies, for school districts.
