GIBSONBURG, Ohio -As the November 5 election approaches, Gibsonburg schools are advocating for a levy renewal and increase to fund essential improvements. The current one-mill permanent improvement levy expires in December, and the proposed measure includes a one-mill renewal plus an additional one-mill increase. Superintendent Bob Falkenstein emphasized that the funds are necessary for repairs, including flat roofs, parking lots, and HVAC systems. Without the levy, the district may struggle to afford needed upgrades, such as a new bus costing $130,000. If passed, homeowners with a $100,000 property would pay about $46 annually, generating approximately $219,000 each year for the district. The levy is designed to be a continuing tax with no future renewals required.
