Say Yes Program Secure Another Year, but Looking to Greater Federal Funding for Future

< 1 min read

CLEVELAND, Ohio-Say Yes Cleveland has secured its funding for the first time in two years but is relying on a federal grant next year to sustain its operations. Executive Director Diane Downing explained to the council’s Education, Environment, and Sustainability Committee that the program needs an additional $1.6 million from Cuyahoga County to support its specialists for another year. This is significantly less than previous years when the county funded half of the program’s $9.4 million budget. Currently, funding sources include $3.3 million from Cleveland Metropolitan School District and charter schools, and $4.5 million from a state grant (TANF).
