West Salem, Ohio-The Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative recently announced the recipients of its annual Scholarship Contest, which supports graduating high school seniors who are children of co-op members. This year, over $300,000 in scholarships were awarded to students residing in homes served by the cooperative.
Ella Saal from Northwestern High School secured the first-place prize of $3,000 and plans to study animal science, agriculture education, and community food systems at The Ohio State University. Other winners include Cole Walenciak, Chloe Patten, Brannon Nickles, Tristan Miller, Luke Walton, Maria James, Alex Yoder, Taylor Olszewski, and Logan Garman, who received varying amounts of scholarship money based on their rankings in the competition. These students have diverse career goals ranging from business and finance to nursing and education.
