< 1 min read

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio-The Benjamin Logan Board of Education has approved an update to the Student Handbook regarding cell phone usage, aiming to improve student engagement and reduce distractions in the classroom. This change aligns with Ohio state mandates requiring schools to establish cell phone policies by July 1, 2025, as supported by Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted. To develop their policy, Benjamin Logan School Leaders utilized a Model Cell Phones in Schools Policy provided by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. This initiative reflects the district’s commitment to creating a productive educational environment, with the expectation that minimizing cell phone distractions will enhance academic performance and student engagement.
