CLEVELAND, Ohio-Katelynn Atkinson, a resident of Cleveland, benefited from the MomsFirst program during her high-risk pregnancy, receiving emotional and physical support along with essential supplies for her daughter.
MomsFirst, established in 1991, addresses Cleveland’s high infant and maternal mortality rates through home visits to help mothers deliver and raise healthy babies. The program, funded annually by federal and state funds, assists hundreds of mothers annually and recently received a $1 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to address maternal health disparities over the next five years.
