Youth Learn Anti-Vaping Message

< 1 min read

SANDUSKY, Ohio-In Erie County, nicotine addiction poses a significant challenge, especially among youth facing peer pressure. Recently, through a state grant from the Ohio Department of Health, a series of ten presentations on vaping dangers were conducted in local schools and youth groups. The sessions aimed to enhance awareness among youth, initially testing their knowledge and later re-evaluating it post-lesson.

All participants showed improved understanding of the risks associated with nicotine use. Additionally, a group of 12 teens from low socioeconomic and African American communities engaged in an Art for Advocacy project at the Sandusky Library. Led by Tory Yarbro, youth outreach specialist, the initiative empowered participants to create artwork conveying anti-vaping messages, fostering awareness and advocacy against the vaping epidemic.
