Proposed Law Would Allow Military Families to Enroll Children in Any Ohio District

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio Senate passed a bill allowing military families to enroll their children in nearly any Ohio public school, regardless of residency. Sponsored by State Sen. Kristina Roegner, the bill aims to address the enrollment challenges faced by military families due to frequent relocations.

It mandates open enrollment for military families in all public schools, with some exceptions such as capacity limitations. To enroll, parents must provide official written orders confirming their active-duty status. The bill also prohibits schools from charging tuition to military families. This legislation seeks to support military families and recognize their sacrifices.
