BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio-On Tuesday evening, Benjamin Logan Schools held their first “Let’s Talk School” community event, where Superintendent John Scheu and other leaders engaged with residents on important district issues. The district received a strong overall academic rating of 4.5, excelling in gap closing with a score of 5, though literacy improvements are still needed. The graduation rate is promising, but more efforts are required to meet new standards. Financially, the district is projected to end the year positively for the first time in seven years, aided by zero-based budgeting and cost-saving measures like reducing bus routes. Despite these gains, the general fund will continue to cover expenses until the last Permanent Improvement levy loan is paid off in 2027.
