Lakota Bus Drivers Wear Purple to Show Support for Freshman Hit by Truck

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio-Lakota bus drivers wore purple under their safety vests as a gesture of support for 15-year-old Aspen Runnels, who was critically injured in a pedestrian accident. Last week, Aspen was struck by a driver who allegedly failed to yield while she was crossing a marked crosswalk.

The driver stated that she was adjusting her baby’s pacifier at the time of the accident. Aspen remains in critical condition at Children’s Hospital, with tests ongoing to assess the extent of his injuries. The bus drivers’ display of unity aims to show Aspen’s family that they have support during this difficult time.
