AKRON, Ohio-Dr. Aaron Palmer, a neurosurgeon at Summa Health, is passionate about connecting with youth and encouraging them to pursue medical careers. His efforts were highlighted at the Future Healthcare Leaders’ Summit, which brought over 200 Akron Public Schools students to the University of Akron for hands-on workshops. Palmer taught teens how to suture pigs’ feet, an experience that students like Tradarius Grantham and Reeber Htoo found engaging and valuable. The summit also featured opportunities for students to meet with healthcare professionals and participate in various medical activities, reinforcing the message that they can succeed in medicine and are needed in the field. Palmer believes that even changing the outlook of one student can significantly impact their future.
