COLUMBUS CITY SCHOOLS TAKES THE NATIONAL STAGE TO ADDRESS CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Columbus City Schools are intensifying their commitment to addressing chronic absenteeism and boosting student success. Superintendent Dr. Angela Chapman and Director Tyree Pollard are attending the Every Day Counts Summit at the White House, where they’ll exchange insights with districts nationwide. They’re particularly intrigued by Richmond’s innovative approach, where judges hold hearings in schools to provide support pathways for struggling students and parents.

Columbus City Schools aim to leverage their strengths, including their PBIS strategy and robust partnerships, to combat absenteeism effectively. By integrating attendance practices into PBIS and collaborating with various entities like sports teams, health departments, and universities, they’re fostering a more holistic support system.
