OSP to Increase School Bus Safety Enforcement During School Bus Safety Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio-During School Bus Safety Week, from October 21 to 25, the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) will focus on enforcing school bus safety laws. They will monitor for drivers passing stopped school buses, speeding in school zones, and other related violations. Drivers must stop 10 feet from a school bus when its red lights are flashing and remain stopped until the bus moves. Only traffic in the same direction as the bus must stop on divided roads. Since 2019, Ohio has seen over 6,400 school bus-related crashes, resulting in eight fatalities and over 2,000 injuries. OSP has issued more than 16,500 citations for violations during this period.
