SOUTH POINT, Ohio-Carrie Copley, a South Point woman, has been indicted by the Lawrence County Grand Jury for allegedly disposing of a fetus after giving birth. The case began when residents reported finding the fetus in a dumpster on April 16. Copley, who had been transported to the hospital earlier that day, was interviewed by detectives and subsequently arrested.
The fetus was sent for autopsy, with results pending. The grand jury returned charges of fifth-degree felony abuse of a corpse and third-degree felony tampering with evidence against Copley. She pleaded not guilty in court.
