MONTGOMERY, Ohio-All Saints Elementary School prioritized preparedness for cardiac emergencies by providing hands-on CPR and AED training to staff and students. School nurse Terra Burpee initiated the effort by partnering with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Project Adam to ensure the school was equipped to respond effectively in emergencies.
Staff members, the eighth-grade class, and many sixth graders are now certified in life-saving measures, empowering them to act swiftly in critical situations. The school’s Heart Safe Certification involved extensive training and planning, resulting in clear protocols displayed throughout the school. Nurse Burpee expressed confidence in the school’s preparedness, emphasizing the importance of readiness in saving lives. Sixth-grader Lexi Dillon emphasized the necessity of such training, highlighting the importance of immediate action in emergencies.
