Director of Ohio Department of Education and Workforce speaks at Wake, Rattle and Roll Meeting

LIMA, Ohio-At the Wake, Rattle and Roll meeting, Stephen Dackin, director of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, emphasized the need for parents, colleges, and tech schools to adapt to changing workforce demands. He highlighted Ohio’s commitment to skilled trades, announcing $200 million for tech center expansions and $100 million in equipment grants. Dackin stressed the importance of fostering literacy in young children and ensuring educational institutions are equipped to train a diverse workforce, including tradespeople and professionals. He noted the urgency due to a declining birth rate and an aging population, stating that Ohio has many job openings that need to be filled.
