A safety checklist put out by the American Red Cross reminds parents to teach their children about a range of topics including bus safety, street safety and stranger danger safety. If your student is younger or going to school for the first time, the checklist recommends making sure your children know important information such as phone numbers, their address and how to dial 9-1-1 and what it’s used for. The checklist also includes talking to children about stranger danger, and not talking to or accepting rides from someone they don’t know.
