COLUMBUS, Ohio-Gov. Mike DeWine is set to sign HB47, a bill mandating AEDs in Ohio schools and sports venues, following alarming statistics from the American Heart Association that sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death among student-athletes. The bill requires AEDs in all public, chartered nonpublic schools, and municipally owned sports venues. The signing will take place at Worthington Kilbourne High School, accompanied by Canen Dickman, whose life was saved by an AED during a soccer practice. Also present will be Nicole Ward, founder of the Make Them Know Your Name Foundation, advocating for heart health education and CPR/AED training across Ohio.
