CINCINNATI, Ohio-Mary Wineberg Vice President of the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education, has chosen not to comment on the controversy surrounding former superintendent Iranetta Wright and the board due to concerns about exacerbating the situation. She explains that union members had been expressing concerns about the superintendent’s lack of collaboration and communication with them since the fall of 2023, which included delays in school budgets and staffing information.
The board, under new leadership, began to hear concerns from community partners and state agencies, including the state auditor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which also cited issues with communication and collaboration. Mary Wineberg notes that despite efforts to counsel the superintendent and provide guidance, the concerns continued to mount and ultimately led to her resignation. Mary Wineberg believes that Wright is a talented educator, but that there were specific areas of concern that were not addressed, including communication and collaboration.
