TOLEDO, Ohio-The Toledo Library is celebrating its 100th summer reading program, encouraging readers of all ages to continue reading during the summer months. The program runs from June 1 to August 3, and participants track their reading progress for rewards. Three sign-up options are available: online form, paper tracker from library locations, or the Beanstack app.
Completion methods include submitting paper copies or using the Beanstack app. Prizes include pencil bags, mood pencils for kids and teens, and a book selection for completing the program. Adults receive a mug and all participants are entered into grand prize drawings for items like Nintendo Switch Lites and gift cards. The program commemorates a tradition dating back to 1924, initially called the “Vacation Reading Club,” with 85 children participating. All prizes must be collected in person by August 17.
