How AI Tech is Enhancing Local School Safety

< 1 min read

CANTON, Ohio-The Stark County Sheriff’s Office announced a partnership with Wi-Fiber to implement artificial intelligence technology for enhancing safety in schools and public spaces. This technology integrates with existing cameras to detect visible weapons and sends alerts monitored by Zero Eyes, which confirms threats and notifies school officials and law enforcement. Sheriff George T. Maier emphasized that this system could provide critical time for responses to potential threats, such as school shootings. The technology is already in use by several local school districts and can also aid investigations by quickly identifying relevant footage. The cost of the AI system has not been disclosed, but grants may be available to make it financially feasible. Maier promoted the technology as a proactive measure to protect the community and schools.
