SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -Emily Nutley, a 42-year-old former St. Xavier High School teacher, has been indicted on six counts of sexual battery for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student in 2023. As a supervisor of an academic assistance program, Nutley initiated inappropriate contact with a struggling student, sending explicit messages and photos, and engaging in sexual activities both on and off campus. When the student tried to end the encounters, Nutley continued pursuing contact. The abuse was discovered through an internal school investigation and subsequently investigated by Springfield Township police. Prosecutor Melissa Powers condemned the actions as “child sexual abuse” and stated Nutley faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. St. Xavier High School has stated they believe this is an isolated incident and provided contact information for reporting any additional concerns to authorities.
