BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-The Bowling Green school bond issue faces an even tougher challenge due to concerns raised by local farmers. The $40 million property tax/income tax issue for a new elementary building, set for the November ballot, is met with skepticism amidst the farming community’s struggle with excessive rain hindering field planting.
Board member Paul Walker highlighted the significant hardship caused by months of flooding in the county. Farmer Grant Chamberlain warned that the current agricultural crisis would likely reduce farmer support for additional taxes, given the inability to plant crops and resulting financial strain. He further emphasized the potential ripple effects, including increased costs in grocery stores and at gas pumps, impacting everyone.
